International and Indigenous Languages Program Update
have been overwhelmed by the interest in the International and
Indigenous Languages Program. Thank you for registering your children!
Unfortunately, we have to delay the start of the following languages
while we complete the hiring process for additional language
Barrie - Spanish Grades 7-8 (Confirmed start date: Jan 26); Korean (Confirmed start date: Jan 19); Arabic (Confirmed start date: Jan 19)
Bradford - Dari (planned start date: Jan 26)
Bradford - Mandarin - Unfortunately we have been unable to find an instructor for the Mandarin program. If you know anyone intersted in this position for the 2019/2020 program, please encourage them to apply in late May/early June on Apply to Education (www.applytoeducation.com).
Learn a new language for free!
The Simcoe County District School Board offers children in grades 1 to 8 an opportunity to learn and/or maintain a language other than French or English. Whether you enrol your children in this program to learn a new language, understand a new culture or to extend their knowledge of their first language, every student can benefit from this program.
Students enrolled in grades 1 to 8 are eligible to enrol in this program.
Barrie: Arabic, Farsi, Korean, Mandarin, Ojibwe, Russian, Spanish, Ukrainian, Urdu
Bradford: Arabic, Dari, Farsi, Mandarin, Russian, Spanish, Tamil, Ukrainian, Urdu, Vietnamese

There is no cost for this program; however, we must have a minimum number of students per language in order to offer the class. Most classes fill quickly and are established on a first come, first served basis.
