​Learn a new language for free!

​The Simcoe County District School Board offers children in Grades 1 to 8 an opportunity to learn and/or maintain a language other than​ French or English. Whether you enrol your children in this program to learn a new language, understand a new culture or to extend their knowledge of their first language, every student can benefit from this program.​

Students enrolled in Grades 1 to 8 are eligible to enrol in this program.

Barrie: Arabic, Russian, Mandarin, Korean, German, Spanish, Ukrainian
Bradford:  Arabic, Tamil, Spanish, Russian, Ukrainian, Vietnamese

Class Schedule:
Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. starting September 16, 2017

There is no charge for this program; however, we must have a minimum number of students per language in order to offer the class.  Most classes fill quickly and are established on a first come, first served basis.


If you are a high school student interested in volunteering with the International Language Program, submit a resume and cover letter to Tatiana Khrystynko at Please specify the proficiency in the language that you are interested in helping with. A reference from your school will be required. We thank all applicants; however, only successful candidates will be contacted for an interview.​

The registration for 2016-17 school year is now open. Please fill out the form located in the right hand column and email it to or submit it to the Learning Centre in Barrie or Bradford.​
